Auto Insurance Quotes
What You Should Know
Getting auto insurance quotes is an excellent way to get a great deal on car insurance. At the same time, it cuts down on how much research you must do to save money. Saving money on monthly premiums sounds like a fabulous deal.
What many people don't understand is that not all auto insurance quotes are the same. It can also be a time consuming process if you go about it the wrong way. Often, a person contacts the top three or four insurance providers in their area and asks them for a quote on their basic policy. They want the cheapest policy since their goal is to save money. What they don't know is that there's a better way to get the information they want.
Not All the Same
When you call individual companies and ask for a quote, you may not always get the same policy. Unless you specifically ask for a basic policy, the provider may quote you the price on their most popular policy. Even when they do give you a quote on the lowest priced policy, the coverage amounts may vary from one company to the next. Sure, that second company offered you a lower price, but their liability coverage is only $25,000 instead of the $30,000 in coverage the first company quoted. Break it down and you'll see the first company actually offered a better deal.
Just because you're looking for the minimum coverage allowed by law in your state, it doesn't mean that's the minimum amount an insurance provider offers. Before getting a quote, make sure you know coverage limits on the following:
• Basic liability
• Comprehensive coverage
• Uninsured/underinsured motorist
• Roadside assistance
• Any other riders or add-ons you are requesting
